Rare Pair of Paragon 1960 “Sweet Pea” & “Spring Flowers” pastel w gold filigree bone china Tea Cups – England
Price includes shipping and insurance within the US.
This is 2 of a set of 4 tea cups which were a limited production in various flowers and pastel colors. These were made in England by Paragon and the mark was used 1960 – 1963. There were four pastel colors – blue, green, pink/rose & yellow, four flower interiors on black and a variety of gold filigree designs, all of which were varied so there are very few cups which are identical. These are “Sweet Pea” on pink/rose featuring those flowers in lavender, pink and yellow tones and “Spring Flowers” on soft green featuring daffodil, rose or peony, primrose and other flowers. This cup center is made to look like the needlepoint dining room chair covers of the time. These are wide mouth tea cups with a fluted rim on the cup and the saucer. I have found very few examples of these for sale but the Sweet Pea cup recently sold on its own recently for over $200. They would make lovely display pieces in any decor or can be used functionally as well.
Size: Saucer – 5.5″ w, Teacup is 4″w x 2.25″h (cup only) .
Condition: “Spring Flowers” – like new, no defects, no wear on the gold trim or filigree. I do note a couple of popped air bubbles on the rim of the saucer but they are very tiny.
“Sweet Pea” – gold trim and filigree is like new, no wear. The tea cup only has very fine crazing which is only visible under strong light. The tea cup has what is either a flaw in the porcelain or a fleabite chip which has been repaired with gold (see photo.) It is tiny and not easily seen but I want to mention it in case it is something the former owner repaired. I have reduced the price because of this even though it may have come from the factory this way.
