Franz Bergman ( 1861- 1936) Very Rare Viking Hut in the forest. Inside the hut is the warrior with his shield, spear and winged helmet. We also find the fair maiden bringing a drinking horn filled with refreshment to the wary visitor. In the hut is also a table and bench as well as the kettle hanging over the fire. Decorations include a couple of horned animal skulls along with a coat of arms comprised of a shield and two swords.
Outside it’s evident that the tree and the hut have become one. Branches and leaves reach over and above as does a chimney. Most of the construction is made to look of boards with the exception of a masonry wall where the fire is made inside. Two doors and some fabric draped through the rafter complete the exterior. The light in the crest of the roof brings the scene to life.
The piece is marked with the Bergmans’s “B” in an urn foundry stamp and also marked “Nam Gerb”
The Lamp is all original and in excellent condition, no breaks or repairs and measures 12 1/2″ high x 9″ wide x 6 1/2″ deep.
