1950s Schumann Arzberg Mid Century Modern Dessert Trio Gold Abstract Porcelain Tea Cup – Germany
Price includes shipping and insurance within the US.
Extremely rare, the pictures do not do this trio justice! Made by Schumann Arzberg, Bavarian porcelain manufacturers founded in 1881 and closed in 1994. This mark is an unusual one that was only used briefly from about 1955 – 65. To acknowledge the Atomic age Schumann produced a series of modern design trio’s, different patterns in the same shape. These mid-century modern designs are very rare, in fact in searching 10 years of sales I could not find another like it.
This set features abundant abstract gold design (very Picasso like) on clouds of blue and tan color over a white background in a low wide shape. It is difficult to tell from some of the pictures but this set has a beautiful gold luster to it, very distinctive.
Set includes footed tea cup, saucer and lunch/cake plate.
Condition*: Mint, no chips, cracks or scratches & the gold gilding is in excellent condition.
Size: cup – 4″w (not including handle) x 2.25″h
saucer – 6″w
lunch plate – 7.5″w
