One of the things I love about what I do is that I am constantly learning and constantly being surprised by what I learn. There is so much to know. In an effort to further our knowledge on all things beautiful, Sharon and I have become members of the American Cut Glass Association.
The ACGA was formed in 1978 as a non-profit organization. Their purpose was to educate, foster appreciation of American Brilliant Cut Glass as a distinctly American art and to record and preserve this early American art form.
In the last three decades this rich cut glass (another term for Brilliant Cut Glass) has been recognized as a legitimate and unique expression of art in the United States. Brilliant Cut Glass is leaded glass, making it, in today’s vernacular, hand cut crystal of the finest quality in the world, then and now.
The ACGA has to almost 2300 members and Cherish the Old is proud to be a part of it. In August we will be attending the ACGA national conference in Atlanta to learn more about this beautiful art form. Watch for posts on our FB page from the conference – @AToBVintage.
